End-of-Life Care

There is no easy way to face the end of a pet’s life. At Painted Tree Veterinary Hospital, we understand how deeply your pet is woven into your family, and we’re here to support you with compassion, honesty, and respect during one of the most difficult times you’ll experience as a pet owner.

Hospice and Comfort Care

When a pet is living with a terminal illness or declining quality of life, our focus shifts to comfort. We’ll work closely with you to develop a care plan aimed at managing pain, maintaining dignity, and keeping your pet as comfortable as possible for as long as possible. This may include medication adjustments, nutritional support, and regular check-ins to assess how your pet is doing. Throughout this process, we’re here to listen, answer your questions, and help you understand what your pet is experiencing, so you can make thoughtful decisions with the support of a veterinary team that cares.

Euthanasia and Aftercare

When the time comes to say goodbye, our team is committed to making the experience as peaceful and gentle as it can be for your pet and for your family. We provide a calm, quiet environment and treat every patient with the kindness and dignity they deserve.

We can also help you with aftercare arrangements, including cremation services with the option to have your pet’s ashes returned to you. Whatever you need during this time, we’ll guide you through it.

When Is It Time?

This is one of the hardest questions a pet owner can face, and there’s no single right answer. Quality of life looks different for every pet, and the decision is deeply personal. If you’re struggling with this question, we encourage you to schedule a consultation with one of our veterinarians. We can help you evaluate your pet’s comfort and well-being honestly and compassionately, and support you in making the decision that feels right for your family. Some pet owners also find it helpful to use a quality-of-life scale, such as the one available from Lap of Love.

You don’t have to navigate this alone. If you have questions or need support, please call Painted Tree Veterinary Hospital at 555-555-5555. We’re here for you.
