What Sets Us Apart

There are a lot of veterinary hospitals in the McKinney area, so why choose Painted Tree? There’s no shortage of options when it comes to veterinary care, and we believe the differences between them mean more than meets the eye. Painted Tree Veterinary Hospital was built intentionally, from the ground up, by two veterinarians who’ve spent decades learning what great veterinary care actually looks like in practice. Here’s what that means for you and your pet.

Family Owned & Operated

Painted Tree Veterinary Hospital is proudly owned and operated by Dr. Tony Lopez and Dr. John Pazora. As experienced veterinarians and former practice owners, they created Painted Tree to provide thoughtful, relationship-centered veterinary care in a welcoming environment.

Because the doctors who care for your pets are also the people who built the hospital and lead the team, every decision is guided by personal accountability, high medical standards, and a genuine commitment to the community we serve.

At Painted Tree, we believe great veterinary medicine begins with trust, communication, compassion, and treating every patient like family.

Decades of Expertise

Our doctors bring more than 50 years of combined veterinary experience, serving pets and families across the DFW area. That depth of experience means we’ve seen a wide range of cases, built long-term relationships with generations of pet owners, and developed the clinical judgment that only comes with time.

Dr. Lopez is a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, board-certified in canine and feline practice — a rigorous, voluntary credential held by only a small percentage of veterinarians nationwide. It reflects a commitment to a higher standard of general practice medicine and to continuous learning throughout his career. Combined with Dr. Pazora’s experience as a practice owner and commitment to patient-centered care, our leadership team brings a level of expertise that’s hard to find under one roof.

A Low-Stress Experience for Your Pet

A trip to the vet doesn’t have to be stressful — and at Painted Tree, we’re committed to making sure it isn’t. We know that anxious, fearful patients are harder to examine, harder to treat, and more likely to have a negative association with veterinary care that compounds over time. That’s not good for anyone.

Our approach prioritizes calm, gentle handling and reduced restraint. We pay attention to body language, give patients time to acclimate, and adjust our techniques to each individual animal’s temperament and comfort level. From the way our facility is designed to the way our team interacts with your pet, every detail is considered with stress reduction in mind. The result is better exams, more accurate diagnostics, and a pet who’s more likely to walk through our doors willingly next time.

A Higher Standard of Care

What happens behind the scenes at a veterinary hospital matters as much as what you see in the exam room. That’s why we hold ourselves to a higher standard at every step, from how we approach anesthesia and surgery to how we communicate with you about your pet’s care.

We built our hospital around the standards set by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). This voluntary accreditation program evaluates hospitals across hundreds of criteria, including patient care, safety, anesthesia protocols, pain management, and medical record-keeping. Not all veterinary hospitals choose to pursue this level of accountability. We are, because it aligns with who we are and how we want to practice.

This commitment to quality shows up in the details: individualized anesthetic protocols for every patient, advanced monitoring during every procedure, thorough pre-operative assessments, and transparent communication so you always know what’s happening and why. When you trust us with your pet’s care, we want you to feel confident that nothing is being cut short.
